DRIVE FROM MALAGA
Leave Malaga Airport car park taking the exit marked "Cadiz / Malaga". This is a small white sign and comes immediately after leaving the car park ticket barrier. If you are not leaving from the car park, look for the road signs to "Cadiz/ Malaga". Continue in the direction of Malaga. Look for the MOTRIL signposts and follow these onto the N340/E15. You are now heading in the direction of Almeria.

Stay on the N340 passing Velez Malaga, Torrox, Nerja, and then after the tunnel Cerro Gordo you will come upon the wonderful bay of La Herradura (The Horseshoe).

Once you enter La Herradura you have left the Costa del Sol and are now on the Costa Tropical.

Next (3 minutes) will come Cotobro and then (2 minutes) Almuñecar.

After Almuñecar you will shortly (5 minutes) come to a large sign on the right hand side announcing your arrival in Salobreña.

Approximately 1 mile further on you will pass the "Hotel Salobrena" again this is on your right, it's easy to spot being the only hotel on this part of the coast. There are six flags at the entrance to the hotel - The name board reads “Best Western Hotel Salobreña” – it is a bit tricky to see in the dark. After the hotel (2 minutes) you will come to La Caleta de Salobreña and then (1 minute) Salobreña village .

The N340 continues along the coast to Motril (2 minutes) then to Torrenueva (3 minutes).

Next along the coast is Calahonda (5 minutes), Carchuna (5 minutes) (Castel de Ferro 5 minutes) and finally to Rabite wher you leave the Costa Tropical and enter The Costa Almeria.

NB.  The N340 is the name of the old road. It is gradually being replaced by the E15 which is the name of the motorway. Where they run together both numbers are shown.
DRIVE FROM GRANADA
The Airport at Granada is situated in the area of “Santa Fe” by the A92 motorway.

Leave the Airport and follow the signs for the A92 in the direction of Granada.  You will be driving west and the trip to Granada will take about 10 minutes.

Before Granada City you will be in the suburb of Maracena but still on the Motorway.

At this point you should be watching for the signs to Motril and the E902 motorway. The motorway to Motril will take you South with the city of Granada on your left and the Sierra Nevada Mountains behind the city (they will probably be Snow capped any time between November and the end of May).

Continue South on the E902 over the high plains of almond and olives passing the towns of Padul and Durcal on your left.

The road then begins to descend towards the coast passing Lecrin on your right and the man made lake in the Lecrin Valley. The motorway ends soon but the road continues on to the coast You will pass a second lake on your left..

You will pass a small bridge over the river on your left which is the closest entrance to the Alpujarras from Salobreña (10 minutes). Continue on the main road passing the small village of Velez Benaudalla (pronounced Veles Benaudaya) which sits above the road on your left.

You will very shortly reach the Junction with the N340 to Almeria (left) and Malaga (right).

You are now on the Costa Tropical.

For Salobreña and points west take the road in the direction of Malaga which is to your right..
DRIVE FROM ALMERIA
Leave Almeria Airport and pick up the N344 / E15 motorway in the direction West for Malaga".

Stay on the E15 passing Almeria, Aguadulce, El Ejido and Adra .
After Adra the motorway ends  and you will be on the N340 which is a very scenic drive.

By the year 2010 the E15 motorway will be complete bringing the Airport at Almeria at least 20 minutes closer to the Costa Tropical.

Once you reach Rabita you have entered the Costa Tropical

On the coast road you will come upon the towns of;
Castel de Ferro, Carchuna, Calahonda, Torrenueva, Motril town on your right and Motril beach & golf to your left - if you then look straight ahead but to the left you will see the white village of Salobreña which sits on a hill with a castle on the top.
